As with all Doncasts, this should probably not have seen the light of day, but whatever...
Let's play a game...the game is a pretend game...pretend I don't say "like" like, 1,000 times.
In this episode I completely misattribute La Notte, which was actually directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, to it's star, "The suavest guy who ever walked the planet."
I also go on and on about the National Civil Rights Musuem.
And you know what...I'm going to add something to the episode here on the page, which I don't usually do. I just went looking for the link to the National Civil Rights Museum, and found it, and it is above. When you go there, you'll see photos of stars standing on a balcony, in front of a wreath. That wreath marks where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and basically, bled out.
What would it take for you to agree to have a picture taken standing on that same spot?
No amount of money in the world would ever get my feet on that spot.
In my opinion it should be roped off, permanently.
I'm just sayin'...

My favorite doncast so far, this was. (Possessed by Yoda, am I?) Don't even think about changing the music choices, I'll chip in for legal fees if it ever comes to that.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice a plethora of "likes", but it's just not a proper doncast without a "blah, blah, blah" thrown in somewhere.
Thank you for the Memphis photos. The city in decline aspect really comes through in them. The quote on the plaque outside of the motel where Dr. King was shot gave me chills. And the condoms are locked up? Things that make you go hmmm.

Very informative. That Scissor Lady reminds me of a Simpsons episode but I can't figure out which one.
ReplyDeleteI refused to take any pictures at the World Trade Center, so I think my opinion of people posing on MLK's death site is pretty clear. Ick.
I enjoyed your photos, but you need to photograph the food as well. Yes, people give you weird looks, but you get used to it eventually.
Recipe time now- basically we're talking about a pecan pie base with coconut used in place of the nuts. Was the coconut fine shreds or the more chunky strips? Given the sweetness of the base itself, I wonder if they used sweetened or unsweetened coconut . . . I'm going to take a whack at this one.
I'm not sure about it being an actual pecan pie base, but it seemed like that was the closest thing. It was fine shreds of coconut, about 1/4 the thickness of the whole pie, maybe a third.

Simply an excellent podcast! Don you have to be kidding about the giant pyramid being empty and abandoned. What a shame. When I visit my brother in TN, I'll have to see the NCR Musuem, and check out Gus's...I love green fried tomatoes!
